In your Dashboard, under Provide, notice some new things:

You can easily switch your products and services to be sold in an auction (instead of fixed price), by visiting your "I'm Selling page":

From there, click on each of your products or services that you want to convert to an auction, and notice the new choice there:

Click the green "Continue" button, and on the next page, you'll find your auction controls:

Your Starting Price is where the bidding starts. Set this low to ensure you create excitement and your product or service gets lots of bids.

Remember, every time someone bids on your product or service, your item gets shown to all of their friends and fans -- so set your Starting Bid low to get lots of excitement and bids.

The "reserve price" is the very least you are willing to accept for your item. Your product or service will not be sold for less than that.

It is recommended that you do NOT use the reserve price - as it may turn people off from bidding on your items in the future. If you do use it, try and keep it as low as possible.

If you're selling a service, you can charge an additional "Gas cost" fee. If you're selling a Product, you can charge for Shipping. 

There are no fees taken out for Gas or Shipping. The entirety of that amount will be inserted into your bank when the sale is complete.

It's as simple as that!

The best way to learn how to use Auctions is to play with it!

Start by auctioning some things around the house that you are no longer using. The more interesting or valuable it is, the more likely you'll get lots of bids and excitement around your auction!

Don't get hacked!

Ben Pernell got hacked last week, and they proceeded to attempt to steal his money.
Read about it here.

Watch out for emails that claim to be from FanBox or Johnny Cash or Yahoo, Hotmail or Gmail -- and when you click the link - it goes to page that looks like Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail or FanBox - but is really the hacker's site.

On that page, they will ask you to sign in.

If you sign-in - the hackers now have your password!  

In the future, when they are ready, they will sign-in to your FanBox account and attempt to steal your money or buy things with it.

So, always check the link you clicked on, to make sure its really the site you think it is.

NOTE: They may have already stolen your password and you don't know it yet.

Therefore, I STRONGLY suggest that you do this immediately:

1) Change your FanBox password.

2) Immediately, change your Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail or other mail password, ensuring it is different than your FanBox password.

3) Never, ever click on a link and sign-in to your email account or your FanBox account -- without making sure that the link is actually going to the real FanBox.com or Hotmail or Yahoo, etc.

So, what are you waiting for?

It only takes a few seconds to change your FanBox and email (Yahoo, Hotmail, etc) password - and then you're protected!  DO IT NOW!

Don't use Internet Explorer!

A year ago, I posted that your FanBox experience is a lot faster on every browser but IE (Internet Explorer).

So, if you can, access FanBox on any other browser - just don't use Internet Explorer.

The Knowledge Revolution

The Knowledge Revolution

Overview

Around 100 years ago, 90% of people earned their living by getting things out of the ground or out of machines -- or, transporting those things from one place to another.

In other words, almost everyone performed one of these three (3) activities:

Growing things (agriculture):

    

Making things (manufacturing):
        

Or moving things (transportation):
        

The others -- less than10% of people -- made their living as “Knowledge Workers”.
                            

Knowledge Workers were people like doctors…
                

 lawyers….
             

 teachers….
            

and salespeople…
          

 – and they earned their pay by selling their knowledge to their customers (their clients or employers).

Throughout the last century and a half, technologies were invented that made farmers and factory workers more efficient.

Those technologies included electricity…
           

and the electric motor…
            

 the internal combustion engine….
            

and new materials, chemicals and fertilizers….
          

Thanks to these technological inventions, less workers were needed to grow, make and move things, because:

-- Each farmer could grow many times more crops

-- Machines got better and better, so that only one or two workers were needed to operate them

-- Few or even only one worker (a driver) was required to move massive amounts of things using trucks, trains and boats

In other words, technology enabled massive productivity gains for farmers and industrial workers.

The evidence:

Today less than 10% of people grow, make or move things.

The Agricultural and Industrial Revolutions were indeed REVOLUTIONS.

As a result, today over 90% of us are Knowledge Workers.
              

And the Knowledge Revolution has begun.
